At Shinyo Academy, students whisper about Boogiepop, an urban legend said to be a shinigami in a long coat and tube-shaped hat. The entity actually exists, sharing a body with quiet student Touka Miyashita, and surfaces only when something is hunting humans — first her classmates and then the city around the school. Told in non-linear arcs that follow a different cast each time, this 2019 anime adapts the original Kouhei Kadono light novels, separate from the 2000 Boogiepop Phantom sequel series.
