At Shinyo Academy, students whisper about Boogiepop, an urban legend said to be a shinigami in a long coat and a tube-shaped hat. The entity is real, shares a body with the quiet student Touka Miyashita, and surfaces only when something is hunting humans: first among her classmates, then across the city around the school. Told in non-linear arcs that follow a different cast each time, this 2019 anime adapts Kouhei Kadono's original light novels, separate from the 2000 series Boogiepop Phantom.
