ブギーポップは笑わない

A month after a strange pillar of light appears over an unnamed Japanese city, an ensemble of high schoolers each brush against the urban legend of Boogiepop, a caped figure said to surface when the world is in danger. Five years after a string of serial killings, students begin to vanish and unexplained deaths mount, and the perspective shifts from one witness to the next. Each fragment circles the same events from a different angle, slowly tying the killings, the light, and Boogiepop together.
