Synopsis
At sixteen, Yaichi Kuzuryuu holds the Ryuo title, the peak of professional shogi, but the success has left him drifting and the shogi world unconvinced he earned it. His routine breaks when nine-year-old Ai Hinatsuru turns up at his door, holding him to a half-remembered promise to take her on as a student. Yaichi reluctantly becomes her master, and the two push each other forward as Ai chases her own talent and Yaichi tries to prove the title belongs to him.
