This five-episode Higurashi OVA returns to Hinamizawa after the main television series, mixing lighthearted side stories with one serious arc. The opener and a later chapter are pure comedy: a trip to the pool, then a string of cursed beads that makes whoever finds it fall in love. The central Saikoroshi-hen arc strands Rika Furude in a peaceful alternate Hinamizawa where none of the village's tragedies ever happened, forcing her to choose between that calm world and the one she knows. It is a supplementary OVA, not a starting point for the franchise.
