Kyotaro Ichikawa, a withdrawn seventh-grader who fills his library periods reading a murder encyclopedia, has quietly fixated on Anna Yamada — the tall, popular class idol and aspiring model who sneaks into the same library to eat snacks in secret. The two build an unlikely routine around shared silence and odd exchanges, and Kyotaro's antisocial inner monologue starts giving way to something he isn't ready to name.
