Shinichiro Asano takes a housekeeping job to cover his rent and accidentally releases a creature sealed by the household. His employer, Sakuya Shimazu, turns out to be the 37th head of the Shimazu clan, a line of exorcists who have hunted and sealed wandering spirits since the Kamakura era. Pressed into helping her clean up the spirits he set loose, Shinichiro discovers his own power: kissing a being with supernatural ties reveals its true name, a gift that proves central to the Shimazu hunts.
