Synopsis
In early Edo-period Japan, Lord Tokugawa Tadanaga orders a tournament fought with live steel rather than wooden swords. The opening bout pits the one-armed Fujiki Gennosuke against the blind Irako Seigen, two former disciples of the dreaded sword master Iwamoto Kogan. From there the story turns back seven years to the Kogan dojo, where both men trained, vied to be named the school's heir, and were set on the collision course that left each of them maimed. A brutal historical drama steeped in the discipline and cruelty of the samurai code.
