Ja Wangnan, a stubborn but weak Regular on the Tower's 20th floor, has failed the advancement test so many times that debt collectors trail him everywhere. When the masked fighter Jyu Viole Grace, tied to the criminal syndicate FUG, enters the same testing group, Wangnan's ambition to reach the top collides with a force that terrifies even the test administrators.
