A year before Yumeko Jabami arrives, transfer student Mary Saotome enrolls at Hyakkaou Private Academy, where social rank is decided entirely by high-stakes gambling. Determined to climb, Mary bets everything she has and is dragged into the school's brutal hierarchy of winners and so-called pets. She reunites with her childhood friend Tsuzura Hanatemari, already reduced to pet status, as the two scheme to survive the academy's games together. This Netflix spinoff is a prequel to Kakegurui.
