As negotiator Kojiro Shindo waits for his plane to take off from Haneda Airport, a massive cube two kilometers on each side descends and swallows the aircraft with its 252 passengers. Inside the cube, named Kado, Shindo encounters Yaha-kui zaShunina, a being in human form who says he has come to advance humanity. Shindo becomes the go-between for zaShunina and the Japanese government as the visitor starts handing over technologies that overturn humanity's limits.
