After a distant planet shatters into a meteor shower, bears turn on humans, and a Wall of Severance is raised to keep the two apart. Two bears, Ginko Yurishiro and Lulu Yurigasaki, slip past the Wall in human form and enroll at Arashigaoka Academy, where they fix their attention on Kureha Tsubaki, a student who hates bears after one killed her mother. Hauled before the Severance Court's judges, Ginko and Lulu must declare their intentions toward Kureha in a story that turns prejudice and exclusion into open allegory.
