Goro Honda grows up idolizing his father Shigeharu, a struggling professional pitcher for the Yokohama Blue Oceans, and dreams of standing on the mound himself. When tragedy strikes the family early on, the boy clings tighter to baseball and to the goal of reaching the top of the sport. This first television season opens the Major saga in Goro's childhood, before his rise through youth and school baseball.
