In Paradigm City, where everyone lost their memories forty years ago, Roger Smith works as a Negotiator who settles disputes for the city's powerful. He lives with his android assistant R. Dorothy Wayneright and his butler Norman Burg, and when talks fail he summons Big O, a giant black mecha unearthed from the city's buried past. Cases pull Roger toward the question of what really happened to Paradigm City's memories.
