Aya Rindo, a 962-year-old immortal reduced to a severed head in a birdcage, works as a supernatural detective alongside her combat-maid Shizuku Hasei and the half-oni Tsugaru Shinuchi. Traveling across late-19th-century Europe, the trio solves murders involving vampires, werewolves, and other monsters while pursuing the criminal organization that stole Aya's body. Each case weaves classic literary figures into an alternate Belle Époque where the supernatural is an open secret.
