College freshman Keitaro Gentoga's spiritual sensitivity made him a ghost magnet since childhood, leaving him a recovering shut-in. When he takes a tutoring job to reenter society, his student turns out to be Yayoi Hozuki, a grade-schooler who hunts dangerous spirits to find the entity that took her mother. Alongside Keitaro's childhood friend Eiko—whose cursed left hand traces back to the same incident—the trio visits haunted locations across Japan, capturing ghosts and binding them into Yayoi's growing arsenal of spirit-filled dolls.
