Twelve young people gifted with strange powers travel aboard the floating ship Norn, summoned by an unseen authority known as The World. Among them are Koharu, who can call up fire she barely controls; Mikoto Kuga, who shapes protective barriers; and Nanami Shiranui, a stoic girl trained to erase memories. Their voyage takes a turn when Sorata Suzuhara, an elementary-schooler pulled back in time, appears aboard the vessel and the group begins to learn why The World gathered them.
