An amnesiac girl wakes in the savanna of Japari Park, a vast open-air zoo where animals have taken the form of cheerful girls called Friends. A serval Friend names the newcomer Kaban for the backpack she carries and joins her quest to figure out what kind of animal Kaban actually is. Traveling together across the park's deserts, rivers, and snowfields, the pair meet new Friends in each region while the question of Kaban's origin slowly opens up.
