In Heaven's Animal Design Department, a crew of angelic designers builds the world's creatures to fill the off-hand requests of an unseen God who couldn't be bothered to make them all himself. The fledgling angel Shimoda shuttles each prototype up for divine approval, while veterans like the horse-obsessed chief Tsuchiya pitch and test increasingly strange animals. Episodes turn each design problem into real biology, explaining why actual creatures look and work the way they do.
