Synopsis
This standalone OVA, bundled as a bonus with the first Higurashi anime's DVD box sets, drops Keiichi, Mion, Rena, Satoko, and Rika into a lighter detour through the village of Hinamizawa. After losing a bet, the group parades around town in costume and wanders toward Yagouchi, an abandoned settlement, where Mion recounts a grim local legend and a frightening memory from her childhood. A side story rather than an entry point, it sits between the question arcs and the answer arcs of the main series.
