Masamune Kikuiri lives in Mifuse, a steel-mill town frozen in time since an explosion at its ironworks sealed every exit to the outside world. Under rules enforced by the local priest, the townspeople are forbidden from changing anything about their lives. When his classmate Mutsumi Sagami leads him to the mill's fifth blast furnace, they discover a feral, voiceless girl — the first sign that the town's sealed reality is cracking.
