Synopsis
Ippo Makunouchi is a withdrawn high schooler who spends his afternoons helping his mother run the family fishing-boat charter and gets nothing but beatings from a group of bullies. After pro boxer Mamoru Takamura steps in and brings the battered Ippo to the Kamogawa Gym, Ippo discovers a knack for the sport and asks to train under gym owner Genji Kamogawa. His early rivalry with the technical prodigy Ichiro Miyata sets him on the road toward the Japanese featherweight title.
