Rei Kiriyama turned professional at shogi while still in middle school and now lives alone as a teenager, carrying the weight of a family he lost in an accident and a foster home he walked away from. His isolation starts to thaw after Akari Kawamoto finds him collapsed on the street one night and brings him back to the home she shares with her sisters Hinata and Momo. Between ranked matches and meals at the Kawamoto house, Rei works through his solitude. Chica Umino draws the seinen manga.
