As children in Tokyo, Takaki Tono and Akari Shinohara are inseparable, until Akari's family moves away and the two can only stay close through letters. Takaki crosses the country by train to see her once more before his own family relocates even farther, and the distance between them keeps widening with the years. This manga adapts Makoto Shinkai's film of the same name, whose title comes from the speed at which a cherry blossom petal falls.
