Feng Lan's twin brother, Feng Yang Ming, dares her to try the full-immersion VR game Second Life. As the first player to log in, the nineteen-year-old is allowed to give her avatar a face unlike her own, and she builds a handsome male elf she names Prince. She swears to climb the ranks without ever letting on that Prince is a girl, and an odd party gathers around her, including the hidden game moderator Lolidragon and the bouncy necromancer Doll.
