Yoshimori Sumimura would rather bake cakes than fight, but as heir to one of two rival kekkai lineages he spends his nights guarding Karasumori, the sacred land his school is built on, which draws ayakashi spirits to it. Beside him is Tokine Yukimura, heir to the neighboring clan that claims the same duty and the same disputed legacy. Using kekkai barrier magic to trap and destroy the creatures, the two teenagers patrol the grounds night after night while their families' old feud simmers around them.
