Violet Evergarden was raised as a weapon and knows little outside of combat when the Great War ends and leaves her without the officer who once meant everything to her, along with the parting words 'I love you' that she cannot understand. Taking work at the CH Postal Company, she becomes an Auto Memory Doll, a writer hired to put other people's feelings into letters. Travelling from client to client to find the words they cannot say, Violet starts to grasp what those final three words were meant to convey.
