Second-year high schooler Sakuta Azusagawa runs into famous teen actress Mai Sakurajima wandering a public library in a bunny-girl costume, and realizes no one else can see her. Sakuta calls the phenomenon Adolescence Syndrome, a way that teenagers' hidden stress warps reality, and he keeps encountering it in the girls around him. As he helps Mai and the others trace each symptom back to what they are afraid to face, he sorts through his own buried past.
