Komugi Kusunoki leaves the city for rural Hokkaido after a bruising year at her old school, moving in with her father for a fresh start. Her new seatmate, the popular Yu Ogami, unsettles her by remarking that she smells good, and before long she catches him turning into a wolf. Yu is not the only one: several boys in her class year carry the same kind of secret, and Komugi becomes the single human they let in on it.
