Ashaf, a soft-spoken agent of the Order of Magical Resonance, travels with a coffin strapped to his back, a flock of black crows, and a foul-tempered partner named Guideau. Guideau looks like a young woman but is a beast in a borrowed body, cursed by a witch and driven by hatred of every witch alive. Sent by the Order to investigate magic-related crimes, the pair work their way through town after town, hunting Angela, the witch behind Guideau's curse.
