Stargazing Dog

An Akita dog named Happie is adopted as a puppy by a working-class Japanese family and tells the story from his own point of view. Over the years the father grows inseparable from Happie even as his wife and daughter drift away, and when a divorce leaves him jobless he loads the dog and a few boxes into his car and drives south toward the sea. Takashi Murakami's quiet road story follows the pair across the country.
