Kamiyama High School's Classic Literature Club has no members left when Houtarou Oreki, who saves his energy for whatever he deems necessary, is pushed into it by his sister. Eru Chitanda signs up the same day and brings a curiosity he cannot deflect, and Satoshi Fukube and Mayaka Ibara round the club out. Honobu Yonezawa's novel series opens on the riddle behind an old anthology called Hyouka and keeps coming back to those four and the small mysteries buried in school routine.
