Zhou Mingrui wakes in the body of Klein Moretti, a recent university graduate found dead in a city that recalls late-Victorian England, where steam, gunpowder and occult Beyonder powers coexist. Reproducing the ritual that seemingly pulled him across worlds, he founds the Tarot Club under the alias 'The Fool' while easing into life as a low-ranking Beyonder attached to the Seven Orthodox Churches. Klein hunts for a way home and for the truth about how his predecessor died, knowing that every step up the Beyonder pathways costs a piece of his sanity.
