Ken Kaneki waits tables at a Tokyo cafe and passes for an ordinary young man, though he was born a ghoul and spends his days holding off the hunger for human flesh that comes with it. Touka, a ghoul of about his age, feels no such hesitation and kills as she pleases, while an investigator named Shinohara works the same district hunting their kind. This 2011 one-shot is the prototype Sui Ishida drew before the serialized Tokyo Ghoul, and Kaneki's origin here is a very different one.
