Set across an ancient India ruled by rigid caste and the warring kingdoms of Kosala and Magadha, the story follows him alongside invented companions like Tatta, a low-caste boy who can possess animals, and the slave Chapra. Tezuka weaves real scripture with original characters into a sweeping account of one man's path toward enlightenment.
