High schooler Mai Taniyama accidentally damages expensive equipment and injures an assistant at an old school building rumored to be haunted, and to repay the debt she is drafted into Shibuya Psychic Research. The agency is run by Kazuya Shibuya, a brilliant, coldly arrogant young man Mai nicknames Naru, who investigates the supernatural with hard method rather than superstition. Alongside a monk, a miko, a medium, and a Catholic priest, Mai is pulled into a string of cases that test whether each haunting is genuine or has a human cause.
