Bard Cornelius, son of a noble house in the empire of Mauricia, carries three souls in one body: his own, the miserly samurai Oka Sanai, and Masaharu Oka, a modern high-school otaku with a weakness for animal ears. None of the three overwrites the others. They coexist, trade control and argue among themselves, so Bard grows up with a samurai's grasp of military tactics and a merchant's head for business already in place.
