Akari Akaza starts at Nanamori Middle School and joins the Amusement Club, the do-nothing group her childhood friends Kyouko Toshinou and Yui Funami set up in the old tea ceremony room. Chinatsu Yoshikawa turns up looking for the Tea Club, learns it has folded, and signs on as the fourth member. Short chapters follow the four through club-room gags, magical-girl play and tangled crushes, with Akari forever struggling to be noticed in her own story.
