In a sleepy mountain village, Yoshiki realizes his closest friend Hikaru is gone, and that something else, something not human, has slipped into his shape and is wearing his face and voice. Terrified but unwilling to let go, Yoshiki chooses to stay beside this uncanny 'Hikaru', while the thing living as his friend draws strange dread toward their small town.
