Yukiteru Amano, a withdrawn middle-schooler who spends his days writing observations into his phone diary, learns that Deus Ex Machina — the god of time and space — has turned his diary into a tool that predicts the future. Twelve holders of similar Future Diaries must now kill each other in a survival game; the last one standing inherits Deus's throne. Yukiteru's obsessive classmate Yuno Gasai, whose own diary tracks his every move, appoints herself his protector — her devotion as frightening as the other diary holders hunting them.
