Yūta Togashi spent middle school calling himself the "Dark Flame Master" and claiming supernatural powers — a phase of adolescent delusion known as chūnibyō that he now desperately wants to bury. Starting high school where nobody knows his past, he plans a clean slate, until his neighbor and classmate Rikka Takanashi appears wearing an eyepatch and insisting she wields the "Tyrant's Eye." Fascinated by his former alter ego, Rikka latches onto Yūta, and together with Sanae Dekomori and Kumin Tsuyuri they form the Far East Magical Napping Society.
