Soma Yukihira and his classmates enter the Stagiaire — Totsuki Academy's mandatory restaurant internship that eliminates anyone who fails to impress a real kitchen. Meanwhile, the looming Autumn Election finals pit the top first-years against each other in themed shokugeki judged by the academy's alumni. As Soma faces opponents with vastly more refined technique, he leans on his diner-bred improvisation to survive rounds that expose how wide the gap between him and the elite truly is.
