Seishuu Handa, a young calligrapher, lands on the remote Gotō Islands after punching an elderly critic who called his work too mechanical. On the island, a relentlessly energetic seven-year-old named Naru Kotoishi claims his house as her hangout and drags him into village life — fishing, mochi-pounding, beetle hunting. Between clashes with the locals and failed attempts at solitude, Seishuu starts producing work that trades technical precision for something looser and more personal.
