Sei Handa, a high school calligraphy prodigy, is convinced every student in school despises him. In reality, he is the most admired person on campus — his classmates worship his brushwork, his looks, and the aloof cool they read into his social anxiety. Every misunderstanding spirals into slapstick as the self-appointed Handa Force, a group of four devoted fans, scrambles to protect him from threats only they perceive. This comedy is a prequel to Barakamon, set six years before Handa's move to the Gotō Islands.
