Keita Amano, a loner who plays mobile RPGs and dating sims for fun, catches the eye of Karen Tendo, the school's top-ranked student and president of the Gaming Club. She invites him to join, but Keita finds the club's competitive atmosphere incompatible with his casual approach and turns her down, a refusal Karen misreads as romantic rejection. From there a tangle of misunderstandings pulls in Chiaki Hoshinomori, an indie developer who clashes with Keita online while sharing his taste in games, and Tasuku Uehara, a classmate hiding his own obsession behind a normie persona.
