Three episodes of the 1963 Tetsuwan Atom television series were re-cut into a single feature for theaters, with the Earth-defense material and part of the end-of-the-world episode redrawn in color. Astro Boy, the robot boy Dr. Tenma built and Dr. Ochanomizu raised, flies against threats reaching Earth from space. This is a compilation of episodes that had already aired rather than a new story, and the color footage is the reason it was made.
