Sasaki is a middle-aged office worker who buys a Java sparrow to take the edge off a joyless job, and the bird introduces itself as a sage from another world, reincarnated into that body. Peeps offers magic and a route across, so Sasaki starts running a quiet trade between a fantasy kingdom and his Tokyo apartment. The complication sits on the modern side: Japan has psychics and the agencies that run them, and the fight between them pulls Sasaki in.
