Chakuro, the young archivist of the sand-sailing island called the Mud Whale, and the hot-headed Ouni turn up here as students at a school version of their own home. The saimia powers that shorten lives in the main story become ordinary classroom business, and Lykos and the rest of the Mud Whale's people are sorted into year groups around them. These shorts run alongside Kujira no Kora wa Sajou ni Utau and change nothing in it.
