Gunzou Chihaya still has a Fleet of Fog submarine on his side: the I-401, whose Mental Model Iona defected to humanity and now crews with his privateer group, Blue Steel. Their job is to get the blueprints for a vibration warhead, the first weapon that can hurt the Fog, across the ocean. This second Ars Nova feature sets them against the Student Council, a bloc of Fog Mental Models organized in their path, and tells a story of its own rather than recutting the television episodes.
