Deunan Knute and Briareos Hecatonchires, former Los Angeles SWAT partners, scrape by in a city wrecked by the Third World War until a woman named Hitomi brings them to Olympus, the utopia that now dictates world politics and military power. Both join ESWAT, the unit that answers terrorist strikes against the city. Olympus runs on bioroids, engineered humans bred to keep its citizens docile, and Deunan's work keeps putting her next to the machinery behind that calm.
