Synopsis
Kokonotsu Shikada wants to be a manga artist, not the ninth-generation heir of his family's rural dagashi shop — a store selling Japan's cheap, nostalgic penny candy. His father Yō is ready to hand over the business, but a deal with Hotaru Shidare, eccentric daughter of a major candy manufacturer, changes the terms: Yō will join her company only if Kokonotsu agrees to take over the shop. Hotaru sets out to win him over one obscure snack at a time, while childhood friend Saya Endō watches from her family's café next door.
